I arrived in Le Mans on Thursday afternoon.  I’m staying in the apartment that belonged to the ESBAM student who’s in Portland this semester.  It’s only 250 Euros a month, and it’s really nice, even though the building is probably like 200 years old (the outside door is only about 2 feet wide).

I still don’t have a pillow, a wastebasket, or a phone.  I brought a bag of carrots to eat, but they’re unpeeled and I don’t have a peeler, so I have to whittle the peel off with a kitchen knife.  I have a refrigerator and a stove but I haven’t figured out how to work them yet.  I managed to find a wireless internet connection, but it’s pretty spotty and I don’t actually know who it belongs to.  And I still need to figure out what I’m supposed to do about registering with the office of immigration and integration.

Overall, things are going very well, though.  I’ve met a bunch of the teachers and students from the school, and on Monday I’ll be starting my studies.  I went to a farmer’s market today and bought some fruit, and ate a lemon crepe which was DELICIOUS.

Je suis arrivé au Mans jeudi après-midi.  J’habite dans l’appartement de l’étudiant de l’ESBAM qui passe ce semestre à l’University of Maine in Portland.  Il me coûtera seulement € 250 chaque mois.  Le bâtiment a 200 années, sans doute (la porte n’est que moitié par mètre large), mais l’appartement c’est très bien.

Je n’ai toujors pas un oreiller, une poubelle, ou un téléphone.  J’ai acheté un sac des carrotes pour manger, mais ils n’ont pas été épluchés, et je n’ai pas un couteau-éplucheur, et puis je dois utiliser un couteau pour réduire le peau.  J’ai un fourneau et un réfrigérateur mais je n’ai toujours pas appris comment les employer.  J’ai reussi à trouver un connection à l’internet, mais il est assez irrégulier et je ne sais pas à qui il appartient.  Aussi, je ne sais toujours pas quoi je dois faire pour me registrer avec l’Office Francais de l’Immigration et de l’Integration.

Mais, pour le pluspart, tout va bien.  J’ai rencontré plusieurs étudiants et professeurs de l’école, et lundi je commencerai mes études.  J’ai visité un marché aujourd’hui, où j’ai acheté des fruits, et où j’ai mangé un crêpe de citron, qui était DÉLICIEUX.
